Director/ Owner: Krista began studying the Pilates Method in 2000 as a dance student on scholarship at Point Park College Conservatory. After graduating in 2001 with a B.F.A. in Dance, she was accepted into the fellowship program at Alvin Ailey in New York City and studied under the tutelage of Judith Jameson and the late Denise Jefferson. Throughout her years in New York, she danced with a variety of modern companies. It was then that Krista realized that if she kept a consistent practice of mat Pilates, her body performed better and felt healthier. That is what led her to deepen her knowledge of the Pilates Method.
In 2004, she enrolled in Core Pilates NYC’s first teacher training course led by Michelle Fama and Kim Villanueva. After completing her coursework, she was hired by Core Pilates to teach and never looked back. She is certified through the Pilates Method Alliance. In 2015, she completed a yearlong Balance Body Passing the Torch Program with the amazing Jillian Hessel in Beverly Hills. Jillian studied under three of the Pilates elders: Carola Tier, Kathy Grant and Ron Fletcher.
After returning to Pittsburgh, Krista decided to deepen her knowledge of movement and got certified to teach yoga in 2007 with Donna Dyers’ 200-hour certification course. Krista’s classes are based on Classical Pilates. However, her vocabulary is full of movement so her students never stop flowing. She choreographs each class and private session to accommodate her students and even though, at times, it’s challenging no one is ever set up for failure. You will leave her classes feeling longer, leaner, and for sure, have a smile on your face!
